If Myanmar is the hottest destination in Asia in 2015, Bagan is the hottest destination in Myanmar. Some people already made comparisons between Bagan with the temples of Angkor. While each of these extraordinary sites is unique in its own way, it is true that Bagan holds significant value in terms of history, culture as well as architecture. Imagine a site equivalent to Manhattan dotted with more than 2000 temples, now you have an idea of how Bagan looks like. But what are the best ways to get around and explore this incredible lost city? Here’s the answer:
This is the perhaps the most common way to get around this vast archeological site. For those who wish to explore Bagan at their own pace and want to stop whenever and wherever they want, biking is definitely the best choice. However, there are a number of things you need to consider before taking a bike ride around Bagan. First, you have to make sure that you and your traveling group possess good stamina. Also keep in mind that during summer, due to intense heat and sunlight, biking can cause lots of fatigue.
2. Traditional horse carts ride
Unique and traditional, a horse cart ride is an ideal way to explore Bagan should you want to get a taste of authentic experience. It is also very easy as all you have to do is to sit and see. Like biking, taking a horse cart ride in Bagan is also environment-friendly. However, on the downside, the cost of having a traditional experience is a very bumpy and dusty trip.
3. Hot air balloon ride
This is a not-to-be-missed activity during your luxury tours to Myanmar. You will be picked up at the hotel in early morning (before sunrise) and taken to the balloon launch site. As the balloon ascending, prepare your camera for some breathtaking photos. After just a few minutes, you should see the sun looming in the background, and the sky slowly turns from dark blue to yellow. Beneath you are the spectacular temples of Bagan scattered all around the site. The balloon ride will last for 45 minutes, and then you will be having a light breakfast with a champagne toast after touching down.
